Enrique López Llamas (b. 1993, Aguascalientes) explores current phenomena through the appropriation and reinterpretation of strategies and visual imagery from art history and his personal experience. Through fiction, memory, humor, and nostalgia, he develops ideas that translate into media such as painting, video, performance, and installation. His projects are characterized by an interest in narrative speculation as a tool to address the cultural and power structures that shape our times.
Graduate in Plastic Arts from the University of Guanajuato and member of the SOMA 2021 Educational Program. He has been a beneficiary of the Jóvenes Creadores grant from FONCA and PECDA, both in the discipline of alternative media. His work has been exhibited in Mexico, USA, Ecuador and Colombia. He won the acquisition prize at the 10th Enrique Guzmán Drawing and Painting Biennial of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo #8 and the XXVII Concurso Nacional de Artes Visuales. In recent years his work has been included in public and private collections such as the Boris and Rocío Hirmas Collection, Fundación CALOSA, Moisés Cosío Collection, Alma Colectiva Collection, R+S Collection, Zarur Collection and the Instituto Cultural de Aguascalientes.
López Llamas is a member of Dolores Hidalgo, a collective and imaginary space.
